I’m Chris Coope,

I’ve worked with homeowners all my working years.

Starting out in 1971 with Messrs. Nicholas, Auctioneers, Land & Estate Agents in Reading, Berkshire, England.

Our clientele was very varied, Reading, a moderately large town and its environs the Thames Valley was about 45 minutes from London.

Starting in England way back in the early 1970’s, when window shopping was the way to find a home.

Today the mobile phone is the most practical way, although I feel it is important to meet potential clients early in the process.

Now when you start looking.

• Often this begins with searching through web sites, such as Zillow.com, Trulia.com, Realtor.com or perhaps an agents own site.

• You can also visit ‘open houses’ to get a feel for what you are looking for.

• If you have already signed buyer’s agency agreement, you should let these other agents know as they cannot represent you until your signed agreement expires.

 

How many homes should I look at ?

Well, this depends:–

• It’s a home you always wanted.
• You love everything about the property
• It has most of the must have’s you have listed.

 

How often should I look?

Everyone is different, my feeling is often enough to understand current prices, availability and how they equate to your needs.

My suggestion would be to purchase a simple notebook, keep short simple notes.

Maybe a ‘rocketbook’ as it has tremendous flexibility in this electronic age.

Take lots of pictures of homes, as you view them – it helps to compare each later.

Keep ideas from magazines, stores etc., in a shoebox along with features and items you would ideally like in the new home.
